California-based Jasper Wireless and mobile network operator Telefónica has announced a partnership to connect machine-to-machine and consumer electronics devices.

They say their collaboration will speed up the arrival of new mobile-enabled consumer devices – including navigation devices, e-readers, digital photo frames, cameras and gaming equipment – as well as helping businesses in the automotive, smart grid, tracking, security and mobile healthcare sectors.

Carlos Morales, Global M2M Director at Telefónica, said “Connected devices are the future of consumer and industrial electronics.  With Jasper Wireless’s support, Telefónica is ready to offer tailored services to its enterprise customers, including flexible business models, real-time monitoring and diagnostics, and enhanced customer support.  The Jasper Wireless platform enables Telefónica to offer our existing customers a complete solution for designing and managing connected devices.”

Telefónica’s M2M service with Jasper Wireless will be available from 1st January 2011.
