Samsung becomes official smartphone supplier to the England football team

Samsung Electronics has worked with The Football Association to become the ‘Official Consumer Electronics & Smartphone Supplier’ to the England football team.

It means the England men’s team and their support staff will head for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil with Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphones.

Mobile location-based advertising will be worth more than 10 billion euro in 2018

A new research report from telecoms analyst Berg Insight expects the total value of the real-time mobile location-based advertising and marketing market to reach €10.7 billion (£8.8 billion) in 2018.

That’s a compound annual growth rate of 54% when compared with last year’s global total of €1.2 billion.

RTX becomes the latest company to offer a Mobile Voice Short Codes service

European telecom operator RTX, which previously used the RouteTrader brand for its services, has added Mobile Voice Short Codes to its product portfolio.

Its MVSC solution lets organisations promote a five or seven digit number that any UK mobile phone can either call or communicate with via SMS text message.

BlackBerry ends its licensing agreement with T-Mobile USA

The licence that permits T-Mobile to sell BlackBerry products in the United States won’t be renewed this month, according to the Canadian smartphone company.

Instead it will expire on 25th April 2014.
