Independent cross-platform mobile application store GetJar has announced $11 million in funding from Accel Partners. The company says it plans to apply the new capital to continued innovations on its websites and its unique customer solutions. In the past year, GetJar has tripled the number of employees, quadrupled the number of downloads per month, signed a number of partnerships and maintained its profitability.
GetJar is the world’s second largest application store, second only to the Apple App Store, with over 1 billion downloads to date. It offers apps for feature phones and smartphones across all major platforms, including Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, iPhone and Symbian.
