“A phone is for life, not just for Christmas” says regulator

Phone-paid service regulator PhonepayPlus has launched a campaign in partnership with Parentline Plus to help parents whose children have mobile phones. Entitled “A phone is for life… not just for Christmas” its suggestions include:

A phone is for life...Telling your mobile network that the mobile is registered to a child to ensure any inappropriate mobile internet services are blocked;

Warning children about signing up for chargeable services – particularly those with regular payments;

Reading all the terms and conditions (and visiting www.phonebrain.org.uk for advice);

Remembering that unwanted UK text services can be cancelled by replying STOP to the message.

(We at The Fonecast hope that PhonepayPlus had a word with the Dogs Trust before borrowing their slogan!)
