100 million users for Samsung's ChatON instant messaging service

Samsung Electronics says its ChatON cross-platform messaging service now has more than 100 million users worldwide. The service was launched two years ago and offers a variety of options including text chat, voice chat, video chat and file sharing. It reached 50 million users in May this year, which means it has doubled this base in just four months.

ChatON can be used on PCs, Samsung feature phones, Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows Phone devices. It’s currently preloaded on most new Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

BlackBerry recently announced that its rival BBM service had more than 60 million monthly active customers using BlackBerry devices, with most of these people using BBM for an average 90 minutes each day.
