3 UK next to officially sell iPhone?

3's UK chief executive Kevin Russell has said he hopes to offer the Apple iPhone to customers next year. He made the announcement at ‘The Future of Mobile’ seminar this morning, confirming that the company intends to increase the number of smartphones it offers. It’s previously been reported that the company is already sourcing small numbers of iPhones as a customer retention tool.

Kevin Russell also admitted that increased data usage by 3’s customers had increased costs considerably – and said that mobile voice traffic would be four or five times higher if it wasn’t for the UK’s mobile termination rates. [Sources: Mobile News; eWeekEurope.co.uk]
