6 years in prison for fatal road crash when texting

A Californian woman has been jailed for six years after killing another motorist in a road accident while sending text messages. Deborah Matis-Engle was accused of speeding and texting when she crashed into stationary vehicles in August 2007. The prosecutor said Ms Matis-Engle had paid several bills on her mobile phone shortly before the crash and was in the middle of a transaction when the accident happened. [Source: MercuryNews.com]
