ABI Research says 70% of people in the USA who accessed the mobile internet in 2008 used mobile search engines; a 14% increase on 2007. The increase in mobile search usage is almost double the increase in other mobile web use, which seems to show that mobile users are getting more web-savvy. Access of news sites, game downloads, music downloads and video downloads was up year-on-year, while interest in location information, social networking and sports remained unchanged. However, ringtone downloads were down - as a recent report from Juniper Research also suggested. [Press release]
