Mexican telecom tycoon Carlos Slim Helu is now the world's richest man, according to the latest Forbes list. He has around $53.5 billion (£35 billion), an increase of $18.5 billion in the last 12 months, with the rising share price of America Movil helping increase his personal fortune.
Microsoft founder Bill Gates is the second-richest man, followed by investor Warren Buffet.
