Consultancy Ovum has predicted that the number of voice fixed-line services worldwide will fall at 3% per year between 2008 to 2014, dropping from 1.1 billion to 900 million lines. Revenue from these lines will fall even faster, declining at 4.9% per year from $418 billion in 2008 to $309 billion (around £190 billion) by 2014. [Datamonitor.com]
