Official: O2 and Vodafone to share networks

A couple of weeks ago we heard the rumours... and now we have the confirmation. Telefónica (the parent company of O2) and Vodafone have announced a new collaboration that’ll see the two companies sharing network infrastructure in Germany, Spain, Ireland and the UK. They reckon they’ll each save hundreds of millions of euros over 10 years. In the UK and Ireland, Vodafone and O2 will share masts, antennas, sites, cabinets and power supplies, although other equipment that’s linked to the core network will remain independent.
