2.2 billion mobile phone users are expected to use mobile financial applications every day within the next five years, according to research from the Insight Research Corporation. Its new report, called “The Mobile Phone and Financial Applications Worldwide, 2009-2014”, says the number of users subscribing to certain mobile financial services will treble from 2009 to 2014. The study looked at:
- mobile banking applications,
- mobile stock trading,
- mobile proximity and retail applications,
- mobile credit cards,
- mobile bar coding,
- mobile peer-to-peer applications,
- mobile gaming, and
- mobile gambling.
