O2 has extended its mobile broadband service to provide access via BT Openzone hotspots; a service that the company’s iPhone users were given a year ago. This’ll let O2’s mobile broadband customers connect to around 3,000 BT Openzone hotspots (including most Starbucks branches) in addition to the current deal that lets them use WiFi from 6,000 The Cloud hotspots and 3G service from O2’s network. Existing customers can upgrade their O2 Connection Manager software and get the additional service from today; new customers will benefit from the extended WiFi coverage from the end of July.
