Following last week’s BBC report, SpinVox has issued a press release that reveals more about the company’s speech conversion technology. It says the SpinVox Voice Message Conversion System (VMCS) now contains two billion words and phrases, which means it knows over 99% of the words English-speaking users are likely to say. As a result, SpinVox says it’s reduced its use of human agents by 98% in two years. However there’s still no indication of the proportion of calls that involve human intervention – and the statement is still likely to be seen by many as ‘damage limitation’.
