O2’s parent reports revenue growth with slight profit drop

Telefónica, the parent company of O2, has reported a 1.4% year-on-year revenue to 27,588 million Euro for the first half of 2009, although group profit was down 3.5%.

Q2 growth in the UK was slower than Q1, although net mobile customer additions were up by 252,268 on the previous quarter.  ‘Pay monthly’ contract customers were up 73.3% year-on-year. [Europe press release; group results]
