75% of mobile users worldwide never leave home without it

Three quarters of all respondents in a global survey of mobile phone users never leave home without their handset. The survey was conducted by market research company Synovate and involved over 8,000 mobile phone owners.

It says the UK has the highest proportion of mobile internet users (31%, compared with a 17% global average) and mobile social networkers (17%, compared with 11% globally). We’re also most likely to use our mobile’s camera (76% of mobile consumers in the UK, compared with 62% globally) and most likely to flirt by SMS.

Overall, one in four people said it would be harder to replace a mobile phone than a wallet or purse – rising to 50% in Russia and 47% in the Philippines. [Press release]
