Symbian sales to double in next five years
Annual shipments of Symbian handsets are expected to more than double over the next five years, according to a new report from Juniper Research. The company’s new Open Source OS report says that Symbian handset shipments were likely to reach 180 million by 2014. Symbian’s open source rivals will also increase their sales, which means the total open source handset market will ship around 223 million units in 2014. However, increasing competition means that Symbian’s overall market share will remain virtually unchanged. [Press release]
