Windows Mobile is preparing to make a comeback

The number of smartphones using the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system is expected to triple in the next four years, according to figures from iSuppli. This would give it a 15.3% share of the global smartphone market, returning it to the number 2 position it’s expected to lose this year.

67.9 million smartphones are expected to be using the Windows Mobile operating system in 2013, up from 27.7 million this year. Symbian’s 47.6% share would keep it in first place. iSuppli says Microsoft’s success is down to a complete suite of offerings that most competitors can’t match. [Press release]
