Nokia supports wireless charging initiative

Nokia has joined the Wireless Power Consortium, which is working to create a worldwide standard for wireless charging. The consortium says its research shows that 80% of consumers would use regularly use wireless charging with virtually all of their electronic devices if it were available. The Wireless Power Consortium was created last December and already counts Duracell, Olympus, Philips, Samsung and Sanyo amongst its members. [Press release]

Wireless power stories are like buses: Sony says it's developed a truly wireless power system that has managed to send a 100 volt electricity supply over a distance of 50 centimeters to power a television.
