Researchers are expecting fourth-generation LTE technology to start selling quickly once it’s available – we’ve previously mentioned worldwide figures of 100 million subscriptions in 2014, even though the first major 4G demonstration was only earlier this year – and now chip developer Altair Semiconductor has added to the optimism. In an interview with Unstrung.com, Altair’s co-founder and vice president of marketing and business development Eran Eshed says his company is unveiling its first LTE radio modem this November. This chip could be in handsets in late 2010, with “millions of units” shipping in 2012.
