Mobile broadband to overtake fixed-line connections within two years

The number of mobile broadband connections in the UK will exceed fixed-line broadband connections in 2011, according to a new report from research and analyst house mobileSQUARED.

It says we’ll have 36.3 million active 3G devices in the UK plus 6.4 million dongles and embedded devices. That’s a total of 42.7 million mobile broadband connections compared with an anticipated 42.5 million fixed-line broadband users. The report also forecasts that revenue from mobile content and services will almost treble in the five-year period from 2009 to 2014. [mobileSQUARED roadshow blog]
