Sony Ericsson announces Android-powered XPERIA X10

Sony Ericsson has announced the XPERIA X10, which it describes as “the flagship phone” in a family of handsets that’ll be launched during the first half of 2010. The XPERIA X10 itself will be available in Q1 2010.

It uses the Android operating system - the first Sony Ericsson device to do so - in combination with Sony Ericsson’s UX (user experience) platform to provide “the most open, human and intuitive user experience yet”.

The XPERIA X10 includes social network aggregation through Mediascape and Timescape applications; Timescape links conversations across Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails and texts, while Mediascape accesses content from the phone and online sources.

XPERIA X10 is a quad-band phone with a 4-inch touchscreen and an 8.1-megapixel camera; full technical specifications haven’t yet been confirmed.
