O2 adding 1500 new sites in UK next year

O2 says it's going to spend around £500 million on strengthening its UK coverage. 1500 new network sites are planned between now and the end of 2010, with 200 of them in London (and 40 of those working by Christmas this year).

The company says the expansion is to prepare its network for the future, pointing out that new mobile devices are creating a much higher demand on data services than previous phones.
