Global mobile broadband traffic up 72% last year

The amount of mobile data used worldwide increased by approximately 72% in the second-half of last year, according to the latest report from Allot Communications. Bandwidth figures for the EMEA region were up 70%, APAC was up 86% and the Americas were up 59%.

This usage is being driven by video, with 10% of all global mobile bandwidth attributed to YouTube. Overall, HTTP streaming showed the most growth – up 99% – followed by HTTP downloads and HTTP browsing.
