The engineer responsible for the rail crash in Los Angeles last September had apparently been reported for using his mobile phone a couple of months earlier. A lawyer for the conductor, who survived the crash, said he'd previously complained to a supervisor about the engineer. 25 people were killed in the crash, which happened when a passenger failed to stop at a red light and hit a freight train. Although many are blaming irresponsible mobile phone use for the accident, investigators are also said to be querying the visibility and brightness of the red signal.
