Vodafone Group plc has announced a new organisational structure that'll be in place from 1st October 2010. It's a simpler structure that's designed to help the company focus on its key commercial and financial priorities.
The group’s operating companies will be brought into two 'operating regions':
Europe, which comprises all Vodafone's existing controlled businesses in Europe, plus the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Turkey. Michel Combes will continue to be Regional CEO for the Europe Region.
Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific, which comprises emerging economies in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, plus Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. This region will be run by Nick Read, who's currently CEO for the Asia Pacific and Middle East Region.
What Vodafone’s calling its 'investments' – the businesses it doesn't control, currently Verizon Wireless, SFR, Polkomtel and Bharti Holding – will be managed separately.
There'll be a new Group Commercial unit responsible for Group Marketing, Vodafone Business Services, Vodafone Global Enterprise, Partner Markets and other commercial units. This'll be headed by Morten Lundal as Group Chief Commercial Officer. And similarly, all Technology functions will report into Group Technology, managed by CTO Steve Pusey.
