Windows Phone 7 devices to hit the UK on 21st October 2010

Today's the official launch of Windows Phone 7, the Microsoft mobile operating system that was announced in February. The company says Windows Phone 7 devices will go on sale from 21st October in "select European and Asian markets", with the USA seeing WP7 smartphones from 8th November on AT&T. In total, more than 60 mobile operators in over 30 countries have committed to offering Windows Phones.

Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer at Microsoft, said "We have a beautiful lineup in this first wave of Windows Phone 7 handsets. Microsoft and its partners are delivering a different kind of mobile phone and experience - one that makes everyday tasks faster by getting more done in fewer steps and providing timely information in a ‘glance and go’ format."

Devices destined for the UK include the HTC HD7, HTC 7 Mozart, HTC 7 Trophy, LG Optimus 7 and Samsung Omnia 7. All use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
