HP says webOS 2.0 and Palm Pre 2 will hit Europe on Friday

HP has revealed webOS 2.0, the most significant update to the company's OS since it was launched last year. The first webOS 2.0 device will be the 1GHz Palm Pre 2 smartphone, which will be available from Friday on the SFR network in France. It's scheduled to be released in the United States and Canada within the next few months.

Features available on webOS 2.0 include multitasking, a new 'HP Synergy' social network aggregator, a beta version of Adobe Flash Player 10.1, a 5 megapixel camera and Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite.

Jon Rubinstein, senior vice president and general manager of the Palm Global Business Unit at HP, said "With webOS 2.0, we’re advancing the innovations we introduced 16 months ago, expanding the features that make webOS great for consumers, enterprises and developers. “We’ve made tremendous strides since the platform launched, and now we’re taking our biggest leap forward with powerful new features that make it easier to get more things done with your webOS device."
