ABI Research reveals misconceptions about mobile technology development in 2011

ABI Research regularly forecasts technology trends – but as the year comes to a close it’s taken a different perspective. In fact, while many organisations use the festive season as an excuse for looking at the shape of things to come, ABI Research has predicted technology trends that won’t be happening in the following 12 months.

It's done this for the past five years... and is following the same theme this year, with a free white paper entitled ‘What's NOT Going to Happen in 2011’.

In the report, ABI Research says 2011 won’t be transformed by location-based advertising, smartphones won’t replace computers, and the iPhone won’t be eclipsed by Android. The full report – an entertaining mix of analysis and humour – can be downloaded from the ABI Research website.

Despite the risk of embarrassment, the team at The Fonecast will be broadcasting their own 2011 mobile phone industry predictions next week. Click here to subscribe to the RSS feed or find the podcast on iTunes.
