Microsoft Tag has its best month since launching two years ago

Microsoft Tag for TheFonecast.comThe Microsoft Tag ‘colour barcode’ is reported to have had its best month since launching in January 2009. More than 50% more tag scans took place in March 2011 than in any other month so far.

Microsoft says the number of scans per month has doubled over the past three months, while the number of users per month has increased 2.5 times in the same period. A total of five billion Tags have been created since Microsoft Tag’s 2009 launch, with three billion of those Tags created in the past six months.

Aaron Getz, general manager of Microsoft Tag, said “Brand adoption and consumer engagement continue to build, with March being our strongest month to date, due to several high-profile, well-executed campaigns,” said “We continue to have tremendous success within publishing and also see increasing usage by retailers, consumer packaged goods companies and movie studios.”
