HTC acquires child-friendly app company Inquisitive Minds

HTC Corporation is spending $13 million (£8.16 million) to acquire Inquisitive Minds, the company behind the Zoodles brand. Zoodles is a free app for smartphones, tablets and computers that puts the device into a child-safe mode. It’s currently used by over two million people.

Zoodles will keep producing its branded apps but will also join forces with HTC to create software, content, service and hardware experiences exclusively for HTC devices. HTC also plans to expand the reach of Zoodles by bringing it to international markets.

Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, said “Children interact with technology in a wonderfully natural way. It’s important that they are protected while exploring and learning. We want to create a wholesome, family-oriented environment for our HTC devices, which makes Zoodles a perfect fit.”
