Google launches indoor maps for Android in the UK

Google has introduced indoor maps for a number of UK venues on its Android map application. More than 40 venues in the UK are already available, including museums, shops, railway stations and airports. Building owners can upload their own floor plans for inclusion in future updates.

Customers access the indoor maps by opening the standard Android Google Maps app and zooming in to the relevant location. Walking directions are available as part of the service.

Indoor maps were launched in the USA last year. They’re also available in selected locations in Canada, Japan and Switzerland.
