Brighton & Hove bus passengers can now buy tickets on their mobile phone

Customers on Brighton & Hove buses can now use a mobile phone app instead of cash when they want to buy a ticket, although the option is currently only available on a few services and with certain ticket types.

Customers who want to buy a route 23, 24 and 25 daily or weekly ticket can purchase it via an Android or iPhone application and then simply show their phone to the bus driver. The company has chosen these routes because they’re popular with students and hopes to introduce further m-ticket types onto phones later this year.

Watford-based Corethree has provided the mobile ticketing platform that’s being used by Brighton & Hove buses.

Ashley Murdoch, Corethree’s CEO, said “Mobile ticketing and live services information are becoming increasingly popular with UK transport operators as they realise the benefits of operational efficiencies and provide a more enhanced customer experience. Corethree are at the cutting edge of this technology and are proud to be supporting Brighton & Hove Buses. We will continue to provide product innovation and look forward to the next phase of enhancing these mobile services.”
