Samsung Electronics has announced two new Galaxy ‘Tab 3’ Android tablets. There’ll be one with an 8-inch screen and another with a 10.1-inch screen. Both are launching worldwide this month and will be available alongside the previously announced 7-inch version.
The 8-inch Tab 3 runs a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, while the 10.1-inch tablet has a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor. Both will offer 3G and 4G connectivity as well as WiFi.
Samsung’s 7-inch Tab 3 was originally announced in April.
In addition, Samsung has revealed the Galaxy S4 Active smartphone. This isn’t simply a toughened version of the Galaxy S4; although it runs Android on a 1.9GHz quad-core processor it only has an 8-megapixel camera and uses TFT rather than Super AMOLED technology for the 5-inch screen. The Galaxy S4 Active is water and dust resistant to IP67, features a water-resistant earphone socket and can be operated when wearing gloves.
JK Shin, CEO and President of the IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, said “The GALAXY S4 Active is the newest addition to the GALAXY series and is purposefully designed for active users who love the outdoors. Samsung has taken the innovative features of the GALAXY S4 and added breakthrough protective design elements to create a device that thrives in an active environment and is built for a lifestyle of travel and exploration.”
