A court in California has ordered Samsung to pay $119.6 million (£70.9 million) for infringing Apple patents. However, it noted that Samsung hadn’t infringed all of the patents that Apple claimed. In addition, Apple was ruled to have infringed a Samsung patent and was required to pay $158,000 damages.
Apple had claimed damages of $2.2 billion.
In a blog post, intellectual property analyst Florian Mueller described the outcome as “a very good one for Samsung” and noted “this trial was very much about Google, with Google witnesses testifying on all patents-in-suit and Google having agreed to indemnify Samsung with respect to a couple of patents”.
