The wearable Google Glass Explorer product is to cease production, according to a report by the BBC.
Google announced the project in 2012, with US availability from 2013 and a UK launch last year. At the moment the Google Glass headset is available for £1000.
A consumer version of Google Glass is still planned, the BBC says, but the present version will be removed from sale next week.
There’ll also be a change to the company structure, with the Google Glass team moving away from the Google X research division to become a separate business unit.
Google Glass has a small display screen that’s worn in front of a user’s eye. Users can interact with Google Glass via a touchpad on the side, by using voice commands or via smartphone apps.
