070 Personal Number range spared by Ofcom
Ofcom has decided not to close the 070 range of Personal Numbers. These are numbers that let consumers redirect calls to other UK fixed-line or mobile numbers. In 2006 it said it planned to close the 070 range and move customers to a new 06 range due to complaints and 'scams' using 070 numbers. However, it now says complaints have fallen and moving the number range wouldn't necessarily reduce scamming activity. [Consultation document]
