Mobile phone use could be linked to tinnitus, suggests research

The regular use of a mobile phone for several years could significantly increase the risk of developing tinnitus, according to a study that's been published in Occupational & Environmental Medicine. 100 patients with tinnitus were studied by researchers in Austria, along with 100 non-sufferers. Those who said they used their mobiles for an average of 10 minutes a day were 71% more likely to have tinnitus in the ear they used for listening to calls.

The research concluded that mobile phone use should be included in future investigations as a potential risk factor for developing tinnitus.
