Microsoft quarterly results show revenue up 13 per cent

Microsoft Corp. has announced results for the third quarter of its financial year, the three months ending 31st March 2011.

Revenue reached $16.43 billion (around £9.84 billion) for the quarter, up 13% year-on-year, while operating income and net income were up 10% and 31% respectively.

Peter Klein, chief financial officer at Microsoft, said “We delivered strong financial results despite a mixed PC environment, which demonstrates the strength and breadth of our businesses.  Consumers are purchasing Office 2010, Xbox and Kinect at tremendous rates, and businesses of all sizes are purchasing Microsoft platforms and applications.”
