Mobile payment application squeezed onto a SIM card

Visa Europe, Telefónica O2 and Giesecke & Devrient have developed a SIM card that can store payment and security information, making it easy for consumers to transfer a payment application from one mobile phone to another without any complicated installation process.

The Smart Card Web Server (SCWS) SIM card works with a SCWS-enabled mobile handset. It displays a user interface generated by the SIM and connects to the internet browser of the mobile phone. [Press release]
