Red Bend software was included in a record 80 million devices last quarter

Mobile software management company Red Bend Software has set a new company record for quarterly shipments. Its software, which allows mobile phones to be updated remotely, was embedded in 80 million handsets and other connected devices in the second quarter of 2010: a year-on-year increase of 77%. This means Red Bend’s products have now been shipped in 830 million devices.

Research company Ovum has calculated that 71% of new firmware over-the-air (FOTA) devices are currently enabled by Red Bend.

Yoram Salinger, Red Bend CEO, said "Our strong performance reflects the high level of trust chip makers, OEMs and service providers have in Red Bend and our innovative products. We will continue to deliver value to our worldwide customers by enabling them to decrease time to market for new products, reduce costs and create new revenue streams for mobile services.  And we will do the same in mobile virtualization with the VLX product from our recent acquisition of VirtualLogix."

We spoke to Richard Kinder, Vice President of Technology and New Business at Red Bend Software, earlier this year. Click here to listen to the podcast.
