New recipe app offers touch-free page turning

A new eBook and application for iPhones is allowing readers to ‘turn the page’ without touching their mobile phone. The app contains recipes by the well-known chefs and cooks in the Ebury Publishing My Kitchen Table series. Because users may well have food on their hands during preparation, the app takes advantage of the front-facing camera on newer iPhone and iPod Touch devices, allowing them to simply wave their hand over the screen to move to the next page.

The basic app, which contains 40 recipes, is free from the iTunes store. Additional recipe collections are available to download for £1.99 each. Users can search by chef, ingredient, timing, difficulty, cuisine, course, occasion and type of dish, with the option of creating a shopping list for ingredients.

Ebury’s app was created by Tigerspike and contains recipes from cooks and chefs including Mary Berry, Antonio Carluccio, Rosemary Conley, Ainsley Harriott, Ken Hom, Madhur Jaffrey, Annabel Karmel and Rick Stein.
