Technology company NVIDIA has announced its first integrated 4G LTE mobile processor, moving into a market segment that’s been dominated by Qualcomm. It says its new Tegra 4i, which has been jointly designed in partnership with ARM, delivers the highest performance of any single-chip smartphone processor yet is also much smaller

The NVIVIA Tegra 4i - previously codenamed ‘Project Grey - features a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU based on ARM’s R4 Cortex-A9 CPU and a version of NVIDIA’s i500 LTE modem.

Phil Carmack, senior vice president of NVIDIA’s Mobile business, said “NVIDIA is delivering for the first time a single, integrated processor that powers all the major functions of a smartphone.
