Google planning its own MVNO

Sundar Pichai, senior vice president in charge of Google’s products, has told an audience at Mobile World Congress that the search and advertising business is planning to launch a US-based virtual mobile network.

Rumours have previously suggested Google has been talking to Spring and T-Mobile about a possible partnership.

Press reports quote Mr Pichai as saying “Carriers in the US are what powers most of our Android phones, and that model works really well for us”.

Apparently Google plans to launch a service that offers seamless connectivity between cellular and WiFi connections, picking the best signal for voice and data.
