Yahoo! and Samsung have announced an expansion of their global partnership, which was launched in 2007. Samsung will install Yahoo! services - including Yahoo! Mail, Messenger, Search, Contacts, Calendar, News and Flickr - on millions of its mobile devices. Phones may come pre-loaded with one or more Yahoo! branded services.

Nokia has just reported its first quarter financial results. Sales and profits were both up year-on-year, with net sales reaching 9.5 billion Euro. Device shipments were up 16% year-on-year to 107.8 million units, with sales of 'converged' devices – smartphones and mobile-enabled computers – up 57%. In addition, 10 million Nokia smartphone users have downloaded the company's free sat-nav service since January.
However, CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo warned that the company continues to face tough competition at the high end of its mobile device portfolio and challenging market conditions on the infrastructure side.

The number of mobile broadband modem shipments – including USB modems, PC Card modems and wireless routers - grew more than 55% last year, according to ABI Research. That's over 25 million more units, up from 2008's total of 46.4 million to the 2009 total of over 72 million.
ABI's figures show Chinese manufacturer Huawei is the market leader, supplying 54.3% of the world's USB modems and almost half of all PC modems and routers.
