Last week the England and Wales Court of Appeal dismissed an appeal by Apple and upheld a High Court ruling that Samsung’s Galaxy tablet devices didn’t infringe Apple’s registered design for the iPad.
Part of the ruling ordered Apple to link from the home page of its UK website to a notice of the ruling.
Apple UK now has a link in place - entitled Samsung/Apple UK judgement - at the bottom of the home page. While the message includes the text proposed by Sir Robin Jacob in his judgement, it also emphasises the much-reported comments from the original hearing about Samsung’s tablets being “not as cool” as Apple’s iPad. It goes on to refer to successful Apple legal action in Germany and the US, stating that “other courts have recognized that in the course of creating its Galaxy tablet, Samsung willfully copied Apple's far more popular iPad.”
The original ruling also ordered Apple to publish an explanation in the Financial Times, the Daily Mail, The Guardian, Mobile Magazine and T3 magazine.
