Apple and HTC reach ten-year patent deal

Apple and HTC have issued a joint statement that says they’ve agreed to dismiss all current lawsuits and have put a ten-year license agreement in place to cover current and future patents. Full details of the settlement haven’t been revealed.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, said “We are glad to have reached a settlement with HTC. We will continue to stay laser focused on product innovation.”

Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, said “HTC is pleased to have resolved its dispute with Apple, so HTC can focus on innovation instead of litigation.”

HTC signed a patent agreement with Microsoft in 2010 that covered HTC’s Android-based mobile phones. Earlier this year, some HTC phones were delayed by customs staff following a US International Trade Commission review.
