Last night Apple published financial results for the third quarter of its 2012 fiscal year. Quarterly revenue hit $35.0 billion (£22.6 billion) and net profit was $8.8 billion, up from $28.6 billion revenue and $7.3 billion profit in the same quarter last year.
The company sold 26 million iPhones in the quarter, up 28% year-on-year although less than the previous quarter. iPad sales were up 84% year-on-year to 17 million. Conversely, iPod sales were 10% down to 6.8 million.
Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, said “We’re thrilled with record sales of 17 million iPads in the June quarter. We’ve also just updated the entire MacBook line, will release Mountain Lion tomorrow and will be launching iOS 6 this Fall. We are also really looking forward to the amazing new products we’ve got in the pipeline.”
