Asda is moving its UK MVNO from Vodafone to EE

Supermarket chain Asda is moving its UK virtual mobile network to EE from the end of next month. The Asda Mobile MVNO, which was launched six years ago, currently uses the Vodafone network.

EE is currently rolling out public WiFi to all of Asda’s stores and also provides mobile phone services for Asda staff. It says this new partnership will “enable Asda to deliver a new phase of growth to its Asda Mobile proposition”.

Mark Ibbotson, Asda’s Retail Director, said “EE already provides excellent service to our customers and colleagues by providing free WiFi in store, and through our business to business contract. So this mobile partnership felt like the next logical step. Our decision to take our MVNO business to EE was driven by our ambition to further improve the experience for Asda Mobile customers, by taking advantage of a bigger and faster network, with first class network coverage – and offering even better value.”

Existing customers will retain their mobile phone numbers and aren’t expected to notice any interruption to their service.
