It’ll be available in the USA and Canada on 19th April via Best Buy, with a range of other retailers also expected to sell the devices. There’ll be three WiFi-equipped models, from $499 (around £305) for the 16GB version to $699 for the 64GB version. Orders can be placed online from today.

Scott Anderson, head of merchandising for Best Buy Mobile, said “Tablets are becoming a bigger part of our business everyday and the launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook will heighten the level of excitement in this category. RIM has a tremendous history of producing great mobility products for our customers and we are excited to help launch the BlackBerry PlayBook.”

Here in the UK, Apple has confirmed pricing for the iPad 2, which is available from Friday 25th March. Prices will start at £399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only version, rising to £659 for the 64GB WiFi/3G device.
